Micropigmentation is the implantation of semi-permanent or permanent pigments into the upper dermal layer of the skin. It involves using small sterile micro needles to implant the desired pigment into the treated area. It is performed in a safe and sterile environment by a highly trained technician.
Micropigmentation is safe. It is an invasive procedure that comes with risks as well as benefits. The risks include infection, allergic reaction, scarring, undesired results, or misplaced colour. Micro Ink Clinic ensures that risks are minimized by following universal precautions. We only use sterile and disposable needles which are opened in the presence of clients. All supplies are strictly single use and disposable.
This depends on each individual’s pain tolerance. To reduce discomfort, Micro Ink Clinic uses a topical anesthetic gel before and during procedures. Clients will feel the vibration and insertion of the sterile needle.
We like to take our time to go over what you want to achieve. The shape and colour play a big role in the process. Most appointments will be schedule for 1.5 hours in length. A consultation is recommended before the procedure. Lip procedure does require 2-3 treatments (appts) to achieve the desire colour depending on your undertone. Applicable fee will apply.
The pigment will initially appear thicker and darker than the desired result. The treated area will be slightly red and swollen for about 24-48 hours. The area will also be dry and itchy – this is normal. The top layer of skin will flake and peel off after 7-10 days and the final result will take shape. A follow up appointment will be scheduled 6-7 weeks after the initial procedure for any necessary touch ups or adjustments.
If you are getting your eyeliner procedure done, we recommend you have a ride. Your eyes will be a bit swollen which may interfere your ability to focus.
Permanent procedures are considered permanent because the pigment is implanted into the dermis layer of the skin. However, fading will occur from sun exposure and the use of Retinols/Retin-A and other anti ageing products. Fading will also vary from individual to individual depending on lifestyle and body chemistry. We recommend touch ups every 2 years after the first follow up appointment. This will help in keeping the colour looking fresh.
Yes. Botox and chemical peels can affect results. Frequent peels do cause pigments to fade more quickly because the chemicals from the peels will get into the dermis layer of the skin. We recommend that Botox procedures only be done 30 days prior or 30 days after a micropigmentation procedure. Chemical peels should only be done 60 days prior or 60 days after a micropigmentation procedure.
Yes. We offer scalp micropigmentation to both women and men. In the case of men, it can be used to create a “marine cut” and for male and female clients with thinning hair, it can be used to create the illusion of a fuller set of hair.
We will not work on pregnant women, women who are nursing, and any client with keloid scars in the area of desired work. Clients predisposed to having very oily skin may not get a desired result since the inserted pigments may give a “powdered” result instead of the desired “hair strokes” result. For scalp micripigmentation, we will not work with redheads and blondes.
Yes. A consultation is very important. A change/correction to a previous eyebrow procedure will require 4-5 treatments in order to achieve a desired result. Scar tissue in the area of multiple done eyebrows will require additional procedures and additional fees will apply.
